Easter on Colonsay

Eastertide and the island throws off its Winter weeds, welcomes regular and new visitors, and sees the year’s first flush of social sporting events, set of course in the context of its religious festival.  For the outdoor events the weather was seasonally mixed, with showers on Saturday giving way, before the weekend ended, to a flourish of warm sun, well suited for basking.

Big Tea @ the Community Garden

On Sunday 19th July the Community Garden Group once more held their “Big Tea”. All were invited to the garden which was kept very busy all afternoon as visitors and islanders alike enjoyed the rare summer sunshine. Pauline and Laura added to the fun, painting faces. Doctor in the Wildnerness

The Community Garden – Planning for 2015

The Community Garden has gone from strength to strength with the grass now resembling a respectable lawn and the flower beds establishing themselves. With the threat of westerly storms just round the corner, the garden is now bedded down for the winter with only an extra layer of seaweed mulch as a final task.

Tea and cakes keep the community garden looking a treat

Garden volunteers organised a fund raising “Big Tea” to ensure the future of the community venture- and netted over £800 in an afternoon.

The garden, in front of the village hall, has been admired by visitors and locals alike since it’s official opening last year.
